Babymoon was great! We got up to the Best in the West Resort Saturday afternoon and were greeted by our friend Tony's mom and stepdad, Earleen and Dale. (You can bet those names are on our baby name list! Actually, we probably would have fit in much better if we had driven our 1978 Ford pickup, Joleen, up there.) Our cabin was well-kept and spacious, with a staircase out back leading down to the creek, complete with a (very cold) swimming hole. The soothing sound of the creek was also with us at all times in our cabin. (Could that be why I got up to pee 16 times each night?) We came to find out that the cabins were part of a brothel during the days of prohibition, with a bar where the main office now is that served bootleg whiskey. Highway workers would come to unwind at the end of a long day and get drunk at the bar, then saunter on down to the cabins for some company from the ladies of the brothel. What a lovely setting for our romantic babymoon! Actually, it was. We enjoyed a lot of swimming and wading, both in the creek as well as Lake Siskiyou up near Mt. Shasta, Troy fit in a little dirt bike riding, and we spent Sunday afternoon visiting friends who were staying with their parents in neighboring Dunsmuir. We even ended up spontaneously getting couples' massages in Mt. Shasta, and had a couple nice dinners out up there, as well.
Here we are at the swimmin' hole:

And Troy and Clyde in Lake Siskiyou, with Mt. Shasta peeking out in the background:

And a final highlight of our trip. About a mile from home, Troy spotted this guy and had to pull over and break out the telephoto lens. We joked that he would be well protected on his way down the steep and curvy Graham Hill Rd., or in the case of an errant hockey puck, or maybe he's on his way to our house as we speak, ready to get us, Jason style...

Many more photos from our weekend can be found
here, as well as in the
belly shots album, but I must warn you, there are entirely too many of a certain seriously pregnant lady in a non-maternity bathing suit. View at your own risk.
Hah, I thought when you said Troy got a bike ride in, just at a glance I thought it was him in the hockey mask! Good idea to have a getaway in preparation for the baby!
ReplyDeletelove the pics! Looks like you guys had a nice trip =)
ReplyDeletegreat photos! you look so gorgeous! also, the benefit of wearing a non-maternity swimsuit while seriously pregnant is that you can then use the suit as a sling once the kid is born.
ReplyDeleteWow, you ARE gonna have a baby, aren't you? You're looking FABulous!
