Asa is six months old

It's been a month of big changes, or maybe more like many subtle changes that have resulted in Asa really making that leap from infant to baby.  Here are some of his new tricks this month:
- Rolling over.  He finally figured out the back-to-front roll shortly after I wrote his five month post, although I still haven't managed to catch it on video because he does it so rarely.  So rarely, in fact, that Troy still hasn't witnessed it.  He figured it out and did it several times within a few day period, then went back to just chilling on his back.  I don't think we have to worry about baby proofing for a little while with this kid.
- Happy baby pose.  His favorite!  Feet in hands, sometimes in mouth, and often rolling from side to side and singing away.  Much time is passed in this classic baby way.
- Playing with toys.  He wants something in his hands at all times, and once it's there, it is promptly brought to mouth, pulled back out to be explored with hands and eyes, then back to mouth.  And repeat.
- Pat-patting and reaching out in front of him.  Arms are constantly reaching out to pat and/or grab anything within reach.
- Eating solids.  He's still getting used to the whole idea of different tastes and being spoon fed, but doing well overall.
- Giving kisses.  We think.  He goes right for our mouths with a big smile and open mouth and slobbers all over us.  Looking back at posts about Ewan at this age, at a certain point this same behavior pretty clearly turned into real kisses.  So sweet!
- Blowing raspberries.  This is actually not new, but I'm not sure if I've mentioned it, and it's one of his favorite activities.  The slobber factor is out of control.
- Sitting up.  Ok, we're not totally there yet, but getting closer every day.  This was taken several days ago and he's gotten a lot better since then.  (Excuse the dirty onesie.  I think he had just eaten some sweet potatoes that somehow weren't fully contained by his bib.

- Babbling.  This just started the day he turned six months old.  "Adadadada."  Here he is practicing on the changing table:

In addition to these developments, Asa has become increasingly more social.  He is enamored with Troy and Ewan, and all of Ewan's friends and classmates.  He cracks up at almost anything the big kids do, and we can just see where this is going to take us, especially when Ewan is doing something really wild and off limits, and it's being totally reinforced by Asa giving him his full attention and giggles.

With my school year coming to a close, I am so looking forward to a fun summer at home with my boys, and to being able to be there more to witness all of these exciting changes in our littlest dude.  Happy half birthday, Asa B!
